It can be a pain to browse a user in your queue, especially if browsing slows up your own downloads. Here are some suggestions to minimize the amount of browsing needed to weed out leeches:
Use the "Whois" option (right-click user id) for progressive screening first:
If it shows "0" files shared, you have a leech. This is the easiest one.
If it shows a low number of files shared, check to see how many are in users queue. 0 in queue "out of ... available" warrants a browse to see if user is sharing junk or incomplete files.
If it shows a medium or large number of files shared, but no one in queue, this is grounds for suspicion. If you have time and memory, then a browse is warranted to check for a junk sharer again.
A large number of files and more people in queue than uploads available is a sign of someone willing to share, and you can offer whatever courtesy (higher bandwidth, priority in queue, early start, etc.) you want to that person.
A small or medium number of files and more in q than uploads available means there is a good probability that user is NOT a leech.
I consider junk files, a preponderance of incomplete files and preponderance of porn as not sharing, and therefore, the user as a leech.
Everyone has his/her definition of how many files should be shared, so that is not covered here. Also, the way leeches are treated (booted, advised, etc...) is an individual preference.
